Annual Meeting

Aging in Place – The Woodlands will hold its first annual membership meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, at VillaSport Athletic Club, 4141 Technology Forest Blvd., The Woodlands.    All members are invited. If you can attend, please RSVP to Bruce Cunningham@gmail.com

Get Involved

It's a new year, so how about adding some new friends by becoming a member or volunteer of Aging in Place – The Woodlands?  We are a new grassroots organization that launched in October 2016. As a new, grassroots organization you can get  in early and help shape the programs and activities that enrich the lives of people who want to stay in their own homes and neighborhoods as they grow older. Volunteers tell us time and again that giving back to the community is immeasurably rewarding.

We are building teams of volunteers to provide handyman assistance, offer phone support, tech help, outreach to other organizations as well as fundraising, marketing and member coordination, social activities and companionship. We will add programs and events as members ask for them and volunteers are willing to provide.

How to Volunteer

To get started, go to our website at aiptwt.org and click on the Member Signup tab at the top of the home page. There you will be asked to become a member or volunteer and to choose services you are interested in giving or receiving. Many of our members are also volunteers. Some adults volunteer with their still-very-active parents to make it a family activity.

Volunteer Drivers Needed

The transportation committee under the direction of Ken Dorland is literally getting the show on the road. AIPTW Transportation Service has been put to the test and is actively recruiting and training volunteer drivers and dispatchers. Rides will normally be offered weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  “We will try to accommodate needs outside these hours on a special request basis,” Dorland said. Volunteer drivers provide one way or round trip rides to doctor's appointments, grocery shopping, and other destinations.

One special talent  the transportation committee is looking for is someone with technical expertise who can transition manual procedures (for logging drivers and riders) into a computer program that is part of the Club Express virtual office now used for Aging in Place administration. For more information, call Ken at 281-367-0125.
